Are you feeling that Mercury Retrograde?

Feb 03, 2021
Ever since 2013, I’ve been a fan of astrology, thanks to my friend and personal astrologer, Crystal B. The stars can tell us so much, and she’s the best at interpreting that language into terms someone who isn’t fluent in Zodiac can comprehend, aka ME. For the astrology novices reading this, I’ll give you a very high level of what you may be experiencing right now, while we’re in this Mercury Retrograde phase: frustration, lack of patience, and maybe even some hopelessness. And before you say it, think it, feel it, let me answer you by saying, “No, Mercury has NOT been going retrograde for the past 11 months (or the entirety of the pandemic).” Although, sometimes it sure as hell feels like it. This week has been kind of a shitshow here. Yes, I know it's only Wednesday. Even the most motivating playlists, endorphin producing workouts, and exciting buzz around my newly released podcast can’t shake the loom and gloom these planets are causing. There’s been a lot of ‘not fun’ work, some more gluten in my diet than I’d care to admit, and a big lack of sleep that isn’t helping me look or feel my best self. And you bet your ass, I’m blaming that shit on Mercury. But don’t worry, friends. T-minus 17 days until this hiccup is over. I won’t dwell in it for the next 2.5 weeks. I will choose to see the light getting closer and closer as we approach February 20th. In case you’re wondering, the best ways I’ve found to feel less shitty when Mercury goes retro…or really any time this feeling hits me, check out the following:

Do more of what you love. I hope you’re carving out some time daily to do something you enjoy, something that fills your cup. Times like these, you might need to do a little more. Take a walk outside. Listen to a podcast. Write in your journal. Organize your closet. Paint your nails. I don’t know what makes you happy, but whatever it is, do it.
Slow down. If you’re feeling burnt out, it’s probably because you’re moving faster than you should be right now. I love momentum, but I also know if I am always going at full speed, I end up crashing and burning and needing a day of Real Housewives of Anywhere marathon and ice cream to feel normal again. I don’t recommend getting to this point. Catch yourself before Bravo does.

Educate yourself. And I don’t mean spending countless hours on Wed MD because you’ve convinced yourself you have a rare form of God knows what. If you’ve got an area of your life that is causing you stress, go look for some education on how to handle that shit. Whether that be a book, a course, a blog post. Also, don’t be afraid to invest in it. You’re way more likely to get more out of something if you’ve had to pay for it because you want to get your money’s worth after all. And might I just recommend to this ever-deserving community a $19.99 promo to my highly rated course: How to Work From Home with Kids During a Pandemic because it's the month of love and I love to love (ya baby).

This shit is bananas-I’ll be the first to say it. But, I’m also putting my hand out to pull you out of that quicksand and make it work for you because if anyone is feeling stress and frustration and lack of patience and maybe even hopelessness right now during this season of Mercury Retrograde, it’s working moms. Hang in there, mama. I see you. I feel you. I’m here for you.
